I've been on treatment since May 2002. I've attended a lot of groups. It was all or nothing for me, that is what I had to do. I do one day at a time. I've been in Treasure Island Vets Housing. I just have to practice patience as I wait for other housing. I facilitate a group. It makes me feel appreciated and then I appreciate myself.
At first art was something I had to do. I got into it rather than be bored and it helped to relieve stress. Drawing gave me pleasant thoughts and kept me from using drugs. Now it is something I enjoy and like. Art keeps my mind active.
