Nursing at the NIH Clinical Center supports the intramural research program by partnering with patients in support of their participation in clinical research. Nurses implement and coordinate clinical research protocols and conduct independent and collaborative research.
Nursing Practice Council
Shared governance increases staff nurse involvement in clinical practice decision-making. The Nursing Practice Council supports professional nursing practice and facilitates professional development through collective decision-making. A nurse may submit written suggestions for areas of improvement. These requests are reviewed by the Nursing Practice Council and assigned to one of three subcommittees:

The nursing competency program identifies the skills, knowledge and critical thinking required to assure high quality patient care and clinical research support. The program provides a framework for achieving the mission and vision of Nursing at the NIH Clinical Center.
