Human/Clinical Studies
Added text to state that antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant enterococcus, are an increasing problem worldwide, causing intractable wound infections (cited Sherry et al. as reference 9).
Added text to state that of the two topical MRSA eradication regimens that were compared in hospital patients, both were administered for 5 days, the tea tree oil regimen showed a slightly higher clearance rate than the standard treatment, but the difference was not significant.
Adverse Effects
Added text to state that there is a theoretical concern for women at high risk for hormonally sensitive breast cancer when using lavender and tea tree oils (cited Henley et al. as reference 3).
