Judge Karen V. Johnson
Judge Johnson has been at FERC since January, 2003. Before that, she served at the Social Security Administration,
where, as an Administrative Law Judge in Roanoke, Virginia, she
was responsible for hearings involving Social Security claims.
Judge Johnson has extensive experience in military criminal matters, having served
over eight years with the Judge Advocate General Corps, attaining the rank of
Major. Judge Johnson also served as an Attorney-Advisor to the Chief Judge of
the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Judge Johnson also served as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Federal
Election Commission. From 1993 to 2001 she was an Adjunct Professor of Law at
George Washington National Law Center in Washington, D.C.
Judge Johnson received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington,
D.C. She received her Bachelor degree, Master of Public and International Affairs
and Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.
A Virginia resident, Judge Johnson is a former Fulbright Scholar. She is admitted
to practice before the United States Supreme Court, Pennsylvania Courts, U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Armed Forces and U.S. Army Court of Military Review.
