Summary

GAO reviewed the Immigration and Naturalization Service's (INS) new rule on the regulations governing eligibility for adjustment of resident status. GAO found that (1) the rule would conform the eligibility regulations to existing policy and procedures and remove language that has been superseded by subsequent legislation and (2) INS complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
