Environmental Epidemiology

The Environmental Epidemiology Service (EES) provides support and information to the Office of Public Health and Environmental Hazards on matters of epidemiology and health surveillance issues. EES conducts centrally directed epidemiologic studies and other clinical support activities in a manner consistent with the highest scientific standards and in the most expedient and economically efficient way. EES conducts health surveillance of Gulf War and Vietnam veterans and or other veterans exposed to environmental hazards, i.e. phenoxyherbicides, radiation exposure, cold injuries, etc. The Service also creates and maintains unique databases which may lend themselves to research of veterans and promote their use in collaboration with other interested researchers. Information is regularly provided at appropriate forums and to appropriate government officials, members of the public and the Congress.
