After PPS production is complete on December. 31, we will shut down PPS production systems. Verification checks will be performed on products to assure that this year's leap second is implemented correctly with L0 and ephemeris inputs for TRMM products. We plan to resume production on Friday January 02, 2009 after our checks are complete. Real time users need to be aware that products generated starting on January 01, 2009 00:00 Universal Time (7:00 p.m. December 31, 2008 in Eastern Standard Time) are expected to have some geolocation errors of about 7 km (about1/2 a pixel in the high resolution channels). This results from our software requiring a special version of the ephemeris file to properly handle the leap second, and constraints with the automated delivery of ephemeris files to us and the TRMM Mission Operations Center (MOC). The real time geolocation error is expected to be corrected after approximately 12 hours into the new year, with the delivery of a special ephemeris file on the morning of Thursday January 01, 2009 EST from the Flight Dynamics System support. We appreciate your patience during this period. Please let us know if you have any questions.
