Notice: Regionalization of Customhouse Records to Fort Worth

During the months of June and July 2005, approximately 2,500 cubic feet of customhouse records for the ports of New Orleans, LA, Teche, LA, Saluria, TX, and Brazos de Stig, TX, will be sent to the National Archives' regional archives facility in Fort Worth, TX. These records are part of Record Group 36, Records of the U. S. Customs Service, and are currently housed in the National Archives Building in Washington, DC.

Dating from approximately 1804 to 1919, the records include passenger lists, crew lists, inward and outward manifests, shipping articles, and other customhouse records. The records are now closed to research and will remain closed for approximately three months during and after the shipment. After August 1, 2005, questions concerning their availability should be referred to:
