Interoperability SIG

The goal of the Interoperability SIG is to achieve interoperability through increasing the ability of systems to access and use the data and functionality of other systems, and through facilitating the integration of new sources and destinations of data. This SIG is also responsible for addressing the CTWG informatics initiative to develop and implement a plan to enable all NCI-supported internal and external clinical trials systems to be interoperable with caBIG™.

The Interoperability SIG is part of the Clinical Trials Management Systems (CTMS) Workspace. The Interoperability SIG contains several work groups focused on specific issues, projects, and tools:

- System Interoperability and Harmonization

- Structured Protocol Representation (BRIDG)

- Clinical Trials Interoperability Project

Who should get involved?

The Interoperability SIG encourages anyone who is interested and/or involved in the conduct, administration, and regulation of clinical trials. These include, clinical trialists, clinical investigators, research nurses, informaticists, clinical trial sponsors, IRB and FDA representatives. These and others are key stakeholders whose input, review and feedback is imperative to the successful development and deployment of applications to support clinical trials and enable improved exchange of clinical trial information.

Individuals interested in participating are invited to join the Interoperability SIG Listserv. The Listserv serves as the primary means of communication for the SIG. Meeting announcements are posted to the Listserv prior to the meeting.
