Planning for caBIG® Deployment
For organizations considering connecting with caBIG®, the following documents may help answer the following overarching questions with respect to deploying caBIG® within the organization: Where is your organization now? What are your goals? How will you achieve those goals?

  • The caBIG® Deployment Self-Assessment is a valuable first step to help an organization determine how caBIG® tools and infrastructure might be deployed to meet research needs. This assessment provides a means to match the capabilities, interests and needs of the individual institution with the software and support available from the caBIG® program.
  • The caBIG® Goals Document helps organization describe its goals for deploying caBIG®. How will might caBIG® support clinical and research programs and goals? This is a template document provided to support formal Cancer Center Deployment efforts in 2007-2008; however, it is a good model for anyone hoping to deploy caBIG®. See also Goals Overview Presentation.
  • The caBIG® Implementation Plan Document helps organizations describe how they will implement caBIG® goals, leveraging caBIG® tools and infrastructure to become caBIG® compatible. This is a template document provided to support formal Cancer Center Deployment efforts in 2007-2008; however, it is a good model for anyone hoping to deploy caBIG®. Connecting with caBIG™ Outreach Materials
The following products were designed to help people who are connecting with caBIG™ talk with others in their organization. Each presentation covers a different aspect of the caBIG™ deployment process. These were originally developed with Cancer Centers in mind; as such, they are known as the "Talking to Your Center" series.

  • Talking to Your Center: Senior Leadership – Provides background information appropriate for talking with Senior Leaders about the benefits and process of connecting with caBIG™.
  • Talking to Your Center: Building a Project Team (Slides) (Supplement)– Provides information on the types of stakeholders that will need to be engaged as part of a Connecting with caBIG™ effort.
  • Talking to Your Center: Understanding the Adopt-Adapt Decision – Provides information on the tools available for adoption from caBIG™, and introduces the processes for adapting a tool to be caBIG™ compatible.
