Methodist Hospital Flood Protection Project, Houston, Texas
As a result of heaving rain and flooding in southeast Texas on 8-9 June 2001 related to Tropical Storm Allison, President Bush declared a major disaster in 27 counties in Teas. One of the hardest hit areas was in southeast Houston in Harris County where up to 15 inches of rain fell on already saturated soils, flooding large urbanized areas including the Texas Medical Center Complex.
