The 2008 Army Modernization Strategy

America's Army: The Strength of the Nation

The Army's enduring mission is to protect and defend. Nowhere is the concept of continuous improvement more vital than in the U.S. Army. Through the era of persistent conflict that we now endure, the 2008 Army Modernization Strategy (AMS) ensures how to get the Army equipped and modernized to ensure taking care of the Current Force while enabling development of the Future Force. With new initiatives to guide us through the challenges of near term conflicts, to developing the combat systems to protect us from the uncertainties of future conflicts, our troops will be given the means to provide unrivaled security for our Nation. The AMS supports the Army's imperatives to rebalance the force and grow and maintain the expeditionary capable, campaign quality Army needed for the full-spectrum dominance the Nation needs now and through the 21st Century.
