Mail and Shipping Procedures
MAIL ROOM DAILY SCHEDULE:
By 8:00 a.m.
Incoming mail received from USPS. image of mail carrier
By 10:30 a.m. Mail staff picks up Express mail flats and small boxes that were delivered to Shipping & Receiving in Building 22.
Mail staff picks up mail at USPS.
Morning Mail Delivery.
10:30-1:30 p.m. Morning Mail sorted for afternoon delivery, including Express Mail received that morning.
Outgoing mail sorted and metered.
1:00-2:00 p.m. Afternoon Mail Delivery
By 2:30 p.m. Outgoing mail sorted, metered and taken to USPS.
By 3:30 p.m. Late arrival Express Mail processed.
Mass mailings processed.
Tracking packages,etc.
Administrative items
SHIPPING & RECEIVING DAILY SCHEDULE:
Morning Most freight received, including Express freight. Most incoming freight is scheduled for the next delivery run for DSRC or NIST. Shipping & Receiving sorts out flats and small packages for Mail staff next delivery.
All Day: All items security scanned upon arrival.
Notifications to clients of priority shipments.
Morning
Deliveries:

Deliveries:
Building One and all other buildings
Express
Freight:
Clients are encouraged to notify Shipping/Receiving of incoming priority deliveries.Ground and second day air shipments are scheduled for the next delivery run. Priority overnight shipments are processed as quickly as possible. After shipments are divided into ground and overnight, we contact addressees of priority shipments for delivery. If waiting for the next scheduled delivery run is a problem, clients are permitted to personally pick up shipments at Building 22. Every effort possible will be made to deliver overnight freight the same day it arrives.
A signature is required for all deliveries (except mail) and also for items picked up at Building 22.
Special
Situations:
Some items (heavy, large, furniture, etc.) require coordination with recipient. Clients should contact Shipping & Receiving if a priority delivery is required. Clients may pick up freight themselves if they wish.
