RPMS Advanced 3rd Party Billing/AR
Jan 13, 2009-Jan 15, 2009

Class Times: 8:30-4:30 (3 days)

This three-day course is designed for the more advanced user of the RPMS Third Party Billing and Accounts Receivable applications. The user must have at least taken a beginning RPMS Third Party Billing and Accounts Receivable training course to be eligible to take this class. The class will focus on RPMS file structures within RPMS and major issues that have been addressed with the two applications. Basic training will also be provided on Fileman to allow the user to understand how they can run reports based on individual requirements.

RPMS Diabetes Management System
Jan 28, 2009-Jan 30, 2009

SAVE THE DATE!

Objectives: Students will be able to establish and maintain a diabetes register, generate reports from the register, perform ad hoc retrievals of data for register patients, setup taxonomies required for the system, and execute an automated diabetes audit using both traditional RPMS DMS as well as GUI DMS. Students will learn proper techniques for recording required diabetes-related data in the RPMS.

Teaching Method: The course consists of lecture with overheads, demonstration of the tools, and hands-on exercises utilizing individual computer terminals for each student and a simulated patient database.

RPMS PCC Data Entry I (User Training)
Feb 02, 2009-Feb 04, 2009

Class Times: 8:30-4:30 daily

Audience: Newly-hired PCC Data Entry Operators, other Operators without formal PCC training, and experienced Operators needing a refresher course or needing an update on new features of the PCC Data Entry System.

Objectives: Students will learn about the Patient Care Component and its relational file structure. Students will learn to review a variety of PCC Encounter Forms and abstract appropriate data into the PCC utilizing some 100 data entry mnemonics. Students will learn ICD Coding skills and use of the PCC ICD Coding Tool. Students will learn how to display visits and produce health summaries to validate what they have entered. Students will learn how to modify and delete erroneous data. Students will learn how to merge and transfer data from multiple visits into the appropriate PCC visit record. Teaching Method: The course consists of a video presentation, lecture with handouts, and numerous computer hands-on exercises and practice sessions

RPMS PCC Data Entry II (Supervisor Training)

Class Times: 8:30-4:30 daily

Audience: Personnel who serve as their sites Lead PCC Data Entry Operator or personnel who supervise PCC Data Entry Operators.

Objectives: Supervisory staff will learn to update a variety of PCC tables relevant to the data entry process, including customizing tables used by the automated ICD Diagnosis and Procedures Coding Tools. Students will learn to utilize the Un-coded Diagnosis Tool. Students will learn quality assurance procedures for evaluating quality of data entered by PCC Operators. Students will learn to use Staff Productivity Analysis Reports. Students will learn to export PCC data to the IHS Data Center. Students will learn to establish/modify PCC Data Entry Site Parameters.

Teaching Method: The course consists of a video presentation, lecture with handouts, and numerous computer hands-on exercises and practice sessions.

Intermediate Injury Prevention

The California Area IHS will be hosting a Level 2 "Intermediate Injury Prevention" course from February 10-13, 2009 in Sacramento. The course will be co sponsored by CRIHB. This is the first time we will be hosting this course and it is not likely to be offered again in California for many years. This course is required to attend the IHS Injury Prevention Fellowship program. The course will be limited to 20 students.

RPMS PCC Output Reports

USE OF PCC DATA FOR PATIENT CARE AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Class Length: 3 days.

Hours: 8:30 - 4:30 daily.

Audience: Health care providers, facility and program administrators, medical records personnel, planners and epidemiologists, and information systems personnel.

Objectives: Students will be able to formulate and execute ad hoc searches of the PCC database to produce lists of patients with various medical conditions and patients with important service needs such as immunizations, pap smears, health education, and specialty care. Students will learn to produce age distributions and mailing labels for patients selected in ad hoc searches. Students will learn to select and execute reports for facility and program management, quality assurance, workload statistics, and community epidemiology. And students will learn to create and maintain registers of high risk patients in order to better monitor and manage their care.

Teaching Method: The course consists of three sections: the PCC Ad Hoc Query System, PCC Reports, and the Case Management (Register) System. Each section consists of lecture with overheads, demonstration of the tool, and hands-on exercises utilizing individual computer terminals for each student and a simulated patient database

RPMS Referred Care Information System (RCIS)

This hand-on interactive course provides an overview and detailed instructions for using the IHS Referred Care Information System (RCIS). The course encompasses two full days of instruction and includes, demonstration, participant exercises, and time for questions. The RCIS Package has been designed to automate the Referral process by tracking clinical and administrative data for all referred care, including in-house referrals, referrals to other IHS facilities and referrals to outside contract providers. This automated process provides timely and accurate referral data on individuals and groups of patients for the key clinical and administrative managers at care delivery sites. Course will include V4.0 Patch 3 changes.

RPMS Contract Health Service Managment Information Systems (CHSMIS)

The CHSMIS module is a facility-based automated document and fiscal management system for the IHS Contract Health Services Program. The CHSMIS is a fully integrated component of the RPMS and utilized shared data files for patients and vendors. The system generates authorizations for payment for CHS and maintains an up-to-date commitment register of all currently obligated and paid CHS funds. CHMS automates document preparation functions including document generation, printing and approval for payment. The application provides for electronic communication of authorization information to the National Data Center and Fiscal Intermediary located in Albuquerque, NM.

RPMS Patient Registration

Class Description: The RPMS Introduction to the Patient Registration Application course is designed to teach the new Patient Registration user the fundamentals of the application including: adding a new patient, editing an existing patient file, entering information necessary for billing, and printing routine reports. The course additionally includes vital information for Patient Registration personnel such as the team approach to the revenue generation cycle and customer service proficiency.

CHR Basic begins with 1 week of selfstudy which must be successfully completed before approval to attend a 2-week live workshop covering a variety of topics including but not limited to: Anatomy and Physiology, Public Health, Cancer, Hypertension and heart disease, diabetes, dental issues, environmental health issues, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Addiction and drug abuse, child/elder abuse and domesticviolence, Suicide awareness, Patient assessment and vital signs, wound care and dressing changes, infection control and PCC training as well as communication techniques.

CHR Refresher training provides an opportunity for seasoned CHRs and CHR Supervisors to update their skills, knowledge, and capacity to obtain further information on program administration and resources for health promotion/ disease prevention.

Two traditional Basic courses will be conducted rather than one blended and one traditional.

Two Refresher courses will be taught as originally envisioned.

Criteria to determine who is selected for spots will be based on a combination of 1) earliest dates complete application forms are received; 2) amount of Headquarters training shares available for each Tribe; and 3) a maximum of 4 CHRs from each Tribe.

Please note that the deadline to register for the first course is January 12 2009.
