Effective treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder exist. PTSD can be effectively treated with both psychotherapy (talk therapy) and pharmacotherapy (medication). Clinical practice guidelines have been established for the treatment of PTSD to help ascertain proper care is provided to those who are suffering.
