St. Tammany Parish Disaster Recovery Center to Close August 4

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in St. Tammany Parish at North Shore Harbor Center , 100 Harbor Center Blvd. in Slidell will close Friday, August 4 at 5 p.m. The DRC received more than 51,000 visits since its opening on March 26, 2006.

Individuals who want to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists may visit the DRC between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday. Residents in need of assistance after that date may call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for the speech-and hearing-impaired.

"This DRC allowed residents who were affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to discuss their disaster related needs and obtain information about disaster assistance programs," said Jim Stark, Director of FEMA's Louisiana Transitional Recovery Office.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) customer service representative at the DRC, will move to the SBA Disaster Outreach Center located at 3061 East Causeway Approach in Mandeville at the intersection of East Causeway Approach and Highway 190 East. SBA hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The SBA will provide disaster loan information and conduct loan closings for disaster victims.

Individuals with SBA questions may either visit the Outreach Center or call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 . Hearing- or speech- impaired individuals may call TTY 1-800-877-8339 or visit the agency online at www.sba.gov/disaster.

Three DRCs will remain open after August 4th. Their hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The locations are:

FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.
