Ike Update: Disaster Assistance Continues To Flow Into Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- Federal and state disaster assistance continues to help Texans recover from Hurricane Ike. The Texas Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), partners in the state's recovery, provide the following summary of the nearly $1.4 billion provided for disaster assistance as of Jan. 09:

The deadline to register has been extended to Feb. 6. To register, go online to www.fema.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
