The Allegheny National Forest's Fire and Aviation Program is responsible for the fire prevention, wildland fire suppression, prescribed burning, and aviation management activities on the forest.  In addition to working on the Forest, trained personnel are made available to support National fire suppression efforts during periods of high fire danger.  Forest personnel also support other natural events such as hurricane, tornado and flood recovery efforts nationwide.

The Allegheny National Forest also has a long-standing cooperative agreement with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry for wildfire suppression, aerial fire detection, and training.
