New Version of EndNote® Will Download Full Text

Thomson Reuters, the company that produces EndNote, has informed us that version X2 will be released in June for Windows and in September for the Mac. The purpose of EndNote software is to help you organize and cite references correctly. The new version will reportedly offer automatic downloading of full-text articles, a "Trash" function to recover deleted references, easier searching of online databases, and synchronization with an EndNote Web library. Also, the ability to assign references into one or more Groups, which was introduced last year in version X1, will be expanded. If you are considering purchasing or upgrading your version of EndNote, you may want to wait for this new version to become available.

The NIH Library provides training and support for the many EndNote users at NIH. A hands-on class will be offered on June 19 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.; see NIH Library Classes: June 2008 for details and to register.

If you are unable to attend the class, sign up for a one-on-one tutorial via the Request a Tutorial webpage.

For additional information about EndNote X2, email nihlibrary@nih.gov or call Reference & Information Services at 301-496-1080.
