Consultation at the National Center for PTSD
The National Center's expertise has come to be viewed as a valuable resource on all facets of traumatic stress. As a result, individual staff members are frequently called upon to provide advice and assistance to agencies and committees involved in a wide range of activities involving both military and civilian populations in the US and around the world.
Consultations can include a range of levels of involvement: a simple phone call or email with a request for specific information; an intensive but brief involvement on site in the aftermath of some major emergency; or a continuing formal relationship through membership on an ongoing task force or committee.
Many of the National Center's most rewarding and productive associations began with consultations, such as those with the Department of Defense and SAMHSA. Some of the most worthwhile and innovative projects in both Research and Education have been made possible because of the relationships that were forged through consultative activities both within the VA and with other professional associations and committees.
