NEHRP Recommended Provisions for Seismic Regulations for New Buildings and Other Structures. 2000 Edition. Part 1: Provisions
The 2000 edition has the consensus approval of the Building Seismic Safety Council (BSSC) membership and is available for download from www.bssconline.org/NEHRP2000/comments/provisions. The Provisions present criteria for the design and construction of new buildings and additions and alterations to existing buildings and nonbuilding structures to enable them to resist the effects of earthquake ground motions. The changes are primarily new material in select areas to maintain the document at the cutting edge of seismic design practices. Examples of new material include anchorage to concrete; pushover design; glass in glazed curtain walls, storefronts, and partitions; simplified design procedures; a comprehensive procedure for the design of structures with energy dissipating devices; and a comprehensive treatment of design of steel moment-frame structures. The 1997 hazard maps can be used with the 2000 edition.
