Function:
"(1)
Develops the IHS program to recruit, select , assign and
retain health care professionals in
accordance with policies and guidance provided by the
Division of Personnel Management; (2) assesses IHS
professional staffing needs; (3) provides research and
analysis functions for Chief Medical Officers, Clinical
Directors and senior clinicals; (4) manages and supports
health professions education programs and activities; and
(5) develop and administer Indian Health Professions
programs"
The Division of Health
Professions Support (DHPS) Service Center is made-up of
two Sections:
Loan Repayment Section -
provides for the repayment of health professions
educational loans for a two-year service obligation
Scholarship Section -
provides scholarships to American Indian/Alaskan Native
(AI/AN) health professionals
