SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...PARTS OF THE LARGE CONVECTIVE SYSTEM IN
THE NRN GOM HAVE BEEN MOVING ACROSS THE SERN PART OF LA OVER THE PAST
FEW HRS AND ARE NOW PUSHING INLAND NEAR BIX AND BFM. CONCERN IS MAINLY
FOR PLAQUEMINES PARISH IN LA AND THE COASTAL COUNTIES IN SRN MS/SRN AL
AS THESE AREAS HAVE SEEN THE MOST ACCUMULATION OF RAIN SO FAR. LIX/MOB
VWP DATA SHOWS 700 MB WINDS ARE AT 40-45KTS AS THE LLJ HAS NOW PROGRESSED
ACROSS MOST OF LA. IR IMAGERY SHOWS CLOUD TOPS COOLING/EXPANDING OVER THE
OPEN WATERS S OF BIX AND ALSO SW OF BVE WITH CLOUD TOP TEMPS APPROACHING
-72C. TREND HAS BEEN FOR CELLS TO REGENERATE ALONG THE SRN END OF THIS
LARGE CLUSTER OF STORMS AND MOVE TO THE NE THROUGH THE WARM SECTOR STAYING
JUST AHEAD OF THE COLD FRNT. 3HR AUTOMATED ESTIMATES GIVE MAX AMOUNTS
BETWEEN 2.7-3.1" ENDING 0202Z OVER SE PLAQUEMINES PARISH AND 2.2-2.5"
OVER JACKSON AND W MOBILE COUNTIES. ADDITIONAL HVY RAINS HAVE FALLEN OVER
THESE COUNTIES IN THE PAST 30 MIN AS WELL INCREASING THESE TOTALS. EXPECT
TRAINING OF CELLS WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT HR OVER SE LA AND
FOR THE NEXT 2-3 HRS ACROSS EXTREME SE MS/S AL AND THE WRN FL PANHANDLE
AS THE BEST MOISTURE INFLOW MOVES EWD AHEAD OF THE COLD FRNT. VERY HIGH
FFG MAY ALLOW FOR SOILS TO RETAIN MOST OF THE RAINFALL..BUT TOTALS WILL
