Several types of brochures, maps, Recreational Opportunity Guides (ROGs), and other materials are provided to the public by the US Forest Service in areas such as recreation, sightseeing, wilderness, wildlife, vegetation, fire and more.

Forest Visitor Maps

These maps are available to purchase from the National Forest Store and many retail outlets. The Forest Visitor Maps are also available for online viewing and printing.

Specialty Maps

Many specialty maps are available from the National Forest Store covering specific trails, Wilderness Areas and other special areas.

National Forest Atlases

Full color atlases, containing 8 ½ x 11 inch topographic quadrangle maps at 1 inch to the mile scale, are available for many of the forests in California through the National Forest Store.

Brochures and Local Maps

Many brochures and maps are available from individual forests covering local recreation opportunities.

Topographic Quadrangle Maps

Topographic quadrangle maps are produced cooperatively by the Forest Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. These maps are 22 x 27 inches, provide the greatest level of detail and cover only small portions of each forest. The maps are available over-the-counter at the Regional Office in Vallejo and from the U.S. Geological Survey.

Roadless Area Conservation Maps

These maps show categories of inventoried roadless areas in each National Forest in the United States.
