January 13 – Snow and rain are possible later in the day in the New York area, and ground delay programs may be needed. Low ceilings and strong winds in the afternoon could lead to a ground stop or GDP for Atlanta. Snow at Cleveland, Detroit and Cincinnati will likely be handled tactically.

Wright Decision

January 13, 1914 — The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals of New York rendered a final decision in favor of the Wright Company in its patent infringement suit against Herring-Curtiss Company and Glenn H. Curtiss.

January 13 – The new FAA historian has written a new FAA history. Theresa “Terry” Kraus was recently appointed to the re-created office and her book, The Federal Aviation Administration: A Historical Perspective, 1903-2008, came out last month.  Full Story »
