Abstract:

This report addresses the first steps in assessing the current status of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) in state children’s health insurance programs (SCHIP). It focuses on the experiences and perceptions of state officials responsible for SCHIP benefits and NEMT services for their respective programs, NEMT access among SCHIP enrollees, absence of systematic monitoring of SCHIP recipient access to NEMT, and rural NEMT access issues.
