Accidents and Injury

Motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) are a common cause of traumatic stress. This section of the website provides information on the effects of severe automobile accidents. Research on individuals seeking treatment and individuals in the general public suggests that the majority of survivors of a serious MVA do not develop mental-health problems that call for professional treatment. At the same time a substantial minority suffer from problems and are in need of help.
