Waterfowl/Migratory Game Bird Hunting - From the Mississippi and the Illinois Rivers, to large lakes and small ponds to the vast expanses of harvested fields, waterfowl hunting has deep roots and tradition in Illinois.  Opening dates for waterfowl vary across the state.  Don't forget dove hunting, a favorite of many Illinois hunters, opens September 1 statewide.
