Title:

Attitudes of Family Physicians in Washington State Toward Physician-Assisted Suicide

Scan of publication cover

Abstract:

This report uses data from a 1997 survey of family physicians and general practitioners in Washington State to test the hypotheses about physician-assisted. It did find that older physicians opposed physician-assisted suicide more than younger physicians and that male and rural physicians were more negative toward physician-assisted suicide than their female and urban counterparts. The report highlights the need to be aware of systematic differences in family physicians' attitudes by gender and rural-urban practice statutes.
