The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today reaffirmed its affirmative determinations in connection with the partial remand of its final phase antidumping and countervailing duty investigations of imports of softwood lumber from Canada.

The Commission found on remand that an industry in the United States is threatened with material injury by reason of imports of softwood lumber from Canada that the U.S. Department of Commerce determined are subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Chairman Deanna Tanner Okun, Vice Chairman Jennifer A. Hillman, and Commissioners Marcia E. Miller, Stephen Koplan, and Charlotte R. Lane voted in the affirmative. Commissioner Daniel R. Pearson did not participate in this remand.

The investigations involving this product were remanded in part to the ITC by a NAFTA Binational Panel on September 5, 2003. The ITC previously had made affirmative determinations on May 16, 2002.

The ITC's remand determinations were delivered to the NAFTA Binational Panel on December 15, 2003.
