The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of certain color television receivers from China and Malaysia that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Vice Chairman Jennifer A. Hillman and Commissioners Marcia E. Miller and Stephen Koplan voted in the affirmative. Chairman Deanna Tanner Okun did not participate in these investigations.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determination, the Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigations of imports of certain color television receivers from China and Malaysia, with its preliminary determinations due on or about October 9, 2003.

The Commission's public report Certain Color Television Receivers from China and Malaysia (Investigation Nos. 731-TA-1034-1035 (Preliminary), USITC Publication 3607, June 2003) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.

Product Description: The imported products subject to these investigations are complete and incomplete direct-view or projection-type cathode-ray tube color television receivers, with a video display diagonal exceeding 52 centimeters (20 inches), whether or not combined with video recording or reproducing apparatus, which are capable of receiving a broadcast television signal and producing a video image. Specifically excluded from these investigations are computer monitors or other video display devices that are not capable of receiving a broadcast television signal.
