The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined on remand that revoking the existing countervailing duty order on imports of grain-oriented silicon electrical steel from Italy and the existing antidumping duty orders on imports of this product from Italy and Japan would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to an industry in the United States within a reasonably foreseeable time.

Commissioners Marcia E. Miller and Stephen Koplan made affirmative determinations. Chairman Deanna Tanner Okun and Vice Chairman Jennifer A. Hillman made negative determinations.

The reviews involving this product were remanded to the ITC by the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) on December 24, 2002. The ITC had previously made affirmative determinations in February 2001.

The ITC's remand determination will be delivered to the CIT by March 24, 2003.
