The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that an industry in the United States is neither materially injured nor threatened with material injury by reason of imports of steel wire rope from China and India that the Department of Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Chairman Stephen Koplan, Vice Chairman Deanna Tanner Okun, and Commissioners Lynn M. Bragg, Marcia E. Miller, Jennifer A. Hillman, and Dennis M. Devaney voted in the negative.

As a result of the Commission's negative determinations, no antidumping duties will be imposed.

The Commission's public report Steel Wire Rope from China and India (Investigations Nos. 731-TA-868-869 (Final), USITC Publication 3406, March 2001) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.

Product Description: Ropes, cables, and cordage of iron or carbon or stainless steel, other than stranded wire, not equipped with fittings or made up into articles, and not made up of brass-plated wire. The subject product consists of bright (uncoated), galvanized (zinc-coated), and other carbon steel wire rope coated with metals or metallic alloys other than brass, or with textile, plastic, or other nonmetallic materials. Stainless steel wire rope also is subject to the investigations. The subject steel wire ropes are provided for in subheadings 7312.10.60 and 7312.10.90 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
