R60 MCH Research Network Programs (MCHR-NET)

The R60 MCH Research Network Programs are systems that support practice-based networks that are linked to larger organizations of practitioners who are in a position to disseminate and apply the results of their research studies.  In an effort to establish an infrastructure to help health professions in the field of practice-based research, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau supports two research networks:  The Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS) Network and the Collaborative Ambulatory Research Network (CARN)

Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS) Network

Since 1990, the MCH Research Program has been supporting the Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS), the national practice-based research network of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  The mission of PROS is to improve the health of children and enhance primary care practice by conducting national collaborative practice-based research.   For more information about PROS, please visit their website: http://www.aap.org/pros.

Collaborative Ambulatory Research Network (CARN)

Since 1990, the MCH Research Program has been supporting the MCH Research Network on Pregnancy-Related Care:  The Collaborative Ambulatory Research Network (CARN) of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).    This network conducts survey studies to inform and evaluate the College’s efforts to provide guidance on clinical practice to its Fellows.  The CARN project serves the need to track obstetrician-gynecologists' knowledge and clinical practice on a wide range of clinical issues, and to compare existing practice with that supported by evidence-based guidelines.
