DNA Sequencing Core Facility

Yoshi Yamada, Ph.D., Director

Mission

The NIDCR DNA Sequencing Core Facility has offered DNA sequencing services to NIDCR intramural scientists since 1991. The facility is staffed with two full-time technicians who operate ABI 3730 and 3100 Genetic Analyzers (capillary electrophoresis instruments for automated DNA sequencing and fragment analysis). Sequence reactions are prepared and amplified by PCR. The amplification method incorporates fluorescent-based cycle sequencing reactions on single- and double-stranded DNA templates, PCR fragments, and large clones that are subsequently separated for dye-labeled DNA fragment detection on the automated instruments.
