New Positions

We are looking for qualified individuals with interests in understanding the earliest mechanisms of cell fate specification in the sea urchin embryo. The primary goal in our research unit is to define gene regulatory networks that initiate and guide patterning of the primary tissue layers, ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm, in early embryos. The structure of these regulatory circuits involves the interplay between transcription factor activities and signaling pathways. Of particular interest are the networks underlying the development of neural and non-neural ectoderm in the anterior regions of embryos, which give rise to the mouth and primitive nerve net in basal deuterostomes and to tissues of the head in their evolutionary descendants, the vertebrates.

Our new lab is currently under construction on the 5th floor of Building 30 on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. We anticipate its completion early in 2006.
