Winslow Health Center The Winslow Health Center is an ambulatory care center at the Southwest corner of the Navajo Reservation, just off the Interstate, in Winslow, Arizona. The medical staff of 10 physicians, three nurse practitioners and one physicians assistant provide comprehensive ambulatory including urgent care 16 hours/day. Physicians have admitting privileges at the Winslow Memorial Hospital, a 36-bed private community hospital. The population served includes 16,000 Native Americans from the Navajo and Hopi tribes. Specially organized clinics include diabetes, well-child, prenatal, chest and colposcopy. Workload averages 150 patients per day seen by 6-7 clinicians. The inpatient census averages 5-6 patients at a time (200 deliveries/year for the entire staff). The acuity of OB includes VBAC and pitocin augmentation/inductions. The medical staff also includes a physical therapist, an optometrist and five dentists, all working in a multi-disciplinary fashion. The locality in NE Arizona is a high desert plateau at 4,500-ft. evaluation with four definite seasons. Winslow is 50 miles from Flagstaff, Arizona and 180 miles from Phoenix.
