Trees Are Falling Down!

The Klamath Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forests is beginning the process of preparing a long range vegetation management plan for the Lake of the Woods recreation area. The goal is to develop a safe and healthy forest.

In the past 15 years, management of the forest in and around Lake of the Woods has focused on treating individual hazard trees, however overall forest health continues to deteriorate. This decline is causing more trees to need treatment.

The challenge of managing this forest will be to leave healthy trees in a pattern that protects them from wind, insects and disease. The remaining trees and shrubs will become the foundation for a healthy forest into the future.

Klamath Ranger District Needs Your Help

The public has a unique opportunity to help steer the future directions of vegetation management planning at Lake of the Woods. Public participation is an essential tool.
