Enabling Java

If you do not have Java installed or you are not sure - visit java.com.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and earlier
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Netscape Communicator/Navigator 4,5,6,7


    Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

    1. Start Explorer.

    2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu in the upper right.

    3. Click the Programs tab, then click Manage Add-ons at the bottom.

    4. Click on Java Plug-in and select Enable under Settings

    5. Click OK.

    6. Click OK on the Internet Options screen.

    7. Restart Internet Explorer.


    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and earlier

    1. Start Explorer.

    2. Select Internet Options... from the Tools menu.

    3. Click on the Security tab and select Internet zone.

    4. Make sure the security level in on Medium.

    5. Click on the Advanced Tab.

    6. Java console, Java logging, and JIT compiler should all be checked.

    7. Press the Apply button restart Explorer.


    Mozilla Firefox

    1. Start Firefox.

    2. Select Options... from the Tools menu at the top.

    3. Click on Content at the top.

    4. Check the Enable Java checkbox.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Restart Firefox.


    Netscape Communicator/Navigator 4,5,6,7

    1. Start Netscape.

    2. Select Preferences... from the Edit menu.

    3. Click on Advanced.

    4a. For Netscape 4, 5, or 6, make sure Enable Java and Enable JavaScript are both checked

    4b. For Netscape 7, check Enable Java and Enable native object scripting. Then in the "Category" column on the left, click the + (plus sign) next to "Advanced" to expand the list, and then select Scripts & Plug-ins. On the right, under "Enable JavaScript for", check Navigator

    5. Press the OK button and restart Netscape.
