Case Stories and Innovative Projects - Nevada
There are only 14 rural hospitals covering the 91,000 square miles of Nevada. Sixteen years ago, thirteen of these hospitals formed Nevada Rural Hospital Partners (NRHP) to work together to maintain access to hospital-based services in rural settings. When the SHIP grant was announced, the NRHP recognized the benefit that could be realized by aggregating hospital awards.
During the first year, partnership hospitals combined funds to address the HIPAA mandates. For the second year, partnership hospitals are working together to address quality and patient safety issues and to bring information technology to bear on business and clinical problems.
