Highlights from the 2000 Profiles (published 2004)

Highlights compile 2000 data on levels of employment, projected growth and key environmental factors that affect demand for health care. Details for medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, mental health and aides.

In-Depth 2000 Profiles (published 2004)

In-depth profiles compile 2000 data on supply, demand, distribution, education and use of health personnel. Estimated numbers of workers indicate the size of the state's health workforce. Per capita ratios facilitate comparisons with other states and the nation. Trend data provided when available. Each Profile has three sections:

  • Brief overview of residents' health status and health services that influence supply of and demand for health workers
  • Health care employment by place of work, including hospitals, nursing homes and other settings
  • Health care employment in more than 25 health professions and occupations

Request an In-Depth 2000 Profile Files are large, in the Acrobat/pdf format and will be e-mailed to you. Please specify the State and use the subject line "In-Depth State Health Workforce Profile."

State Health Workforce Data Resource Guide will help you use the data and direct you to sources of more detailed data that address different health workforce issues.

The Profiles were developed for the HRSA Bureau of Health Professions National Center for Health Workforce Analysis by the Center for Health Workforce Studies at the State University of New York at Albany.
