Radio Free Iraq Services Broadcasting. Provides analysis and features about Iraq
by the staff of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Print Media
During the Sadaam era, most of the daily newspapers were printed in Arabic in
the large cities of Baghdad and Mosul. A few appeared in English and French.
All publications were rigidly supervised by the Ministry of Culture. The majority
of the morning dailies had strong political and religious affiliations and were
dependent on subsidies from the government.
In the post-Saddam era, the media is financed by members of
the large exile community, resulting in "freeing" the
media. Unfortunately, only a few of these new media sources are
available online. The following represent various political groups.

A generally pro-American weekly political publication in Arabic.
Describes itself as Iraq's "liberal" newspaper.
Al-Furat (http://www.alkadhum.org)
A monthly electronic magazine, issued by al-Imam al-Kadhum Center for Islamic
Studies in Nejef. It is an important source for Islamic heritage and culture.

The official Arabic weekly publication of the Worker' Communist Party of Iraq.
Available each Saturday and offers editions in Kurdish and English.
Az-Zaman (http://www.azzaman.com)
An Arabic daily independent newspaper. Published by Sa'd al-Bazzaz, Sadaam's
former press secretary, who fled Iraq and founded az-Zaman in London. The website
continues to publish the London edition and a recent one from Iraq. It's
international edition is distributed globally. In Arabic and English.
Iraqi National Accord
