Agency Publications Indexes: Education Department
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system providing access to an extensive body of education-related literature. It is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Research and Improvement, and the National Library of Education. The database contains abstracts of report literature in education. First published in paper in Office of Education Reports, 1956 - 65 and as Resources in Education (RIE), a monthly index with semiannual cumulations, from 1966 to date. The ERIC database includes the Current Index to Journals in Education as well.
ERIC Digests are reports of 1,000 - 1,500 words on topics of current interest in education. Created at the ERIC Clearinghouses, the Digest are designed to provide an overview of the topic with references to more detailed information. This database provides a bibliographic record for the Digest as well as the full text. While most of the Digests date from 1992 to the present, more than 800 are pre-1992. The database is updated quarterly.
