MEMORANDUM

TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials

FROM: Barbara A. Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education and Program Services

SUBJECT: Ethics Training Sessions Offered in Washington, DC

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct two introductory-level ethics training sessions on November 9, 1999 in Washington, DC. Ethics officials are invited to attend either or both sessions. The topics, times and descriptions are listed below:

Updated OGE 450 Review Course 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Widely Attended Gatherings Made Easy 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m

The Updated OGE 450 Review Course is designed for ethics officials who have responsibility for reviewing the OGE Form 450 and advising employees about financial disclosure. This course has been updated and reformatted from the previous version.

The Widely Attended Gatherings Made Easy session provides participants with six easy to use steps to analyze an invitation under the widely attended gatherings gift exception. This session was one of several training sessions scheduled for the recent Annual Government Ethics Conference that were canceled due to the hurricane.

These sessions are offered FREE to each agency. However, advance registration is required. Each person planning to attend MUST register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE before Tuesday, November 2, 1999. Registration will be handled on a first-come basis and each course is limited to 40 participants. Please fax completed registration forms to:

Sheila Powers, OGE Event Coordinator Fax Number: 202-208-8039 (or 8038)

OGE will confirm each student's registration by return fax prior to the date of the session. Due to the large volume of registrations, we ask that registrants NOT follow up on confirmations. NOTE: NO TELEPHONE OR E-MAIL REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Because you are our primary means for advertising training sessions, please circulate this memorandum with its attachments among your ethics officials as soon as possible.
