May 19 2005 AIDSinfo.nih.gov is pleased to provide you with a weekly update of highlights about what has happened in the world of HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and research. We hope you find this encapsulated view of HIV/AIDS news useful. New Perinatal Fact Sheet Series on AIDSinfo Check out AIDSinfo’s new fact sheet series, "HIV During Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery, and After Birth." This series of easy-to-read fact sheets is intended for women who are HIV positive and pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, as well as women who have recently given birth. The fact sheets describe the steps an HIV positive pregnant woman can take to preserve her health and to prevent transmission of HIV to her baby.
The five fact sheets are available both as a booklet and individually as stand-alone documents. The information in the fact sheets is based on the U.S. Public Health Service's Recommendations for Use of Antiretroviral Drugs in Pregnant HIV-1-Infected Women for Maternal Health and Interventions to Reduce Perinatal HIV-1 Transmission in the United States (available at here). The fact sheets have been reviewed by expert health care providers and will be updated whenever new information becomes available.
