High Water Mark (HWM) Reports
Following Hurricane Rita, FEMA collected High Water Marks (HWMs) across Louisiana and Texas to document the elevation of the coastal and riverine flooding as a result of the storm. Reports containing comprehensive information about each HWM are provided below. For those interested in using the HWM data in a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment, a simplified version of the Louisiana dataset (22 KB) is provided in GIS Shapefile format; the fields included in this Shapefile are limited to those used in the Rita Recovery Mapping.
Wind Water Line (WWL) Reports
Wind Water Line (WWL) Maps were developed for both Texas and Louisiana to delineate the areas that suffered flood damages as a result of Hurricane Rita. WWL Maps provide an approximate boundary between areas that suffer from both wind and flood damage versus areas further inland where wind is the primary cause of damage.
