Programs > Diversity > Minority Faculty Fellowship

Minority Faculty Fellowship Program grants increase the number of health professions faculty who are racial and ethic minorities under-represented in the health professions. The grants enable schools to provide a stipend and a training allowance to faculty.

Grantees must

  • Identify, recruit and select individuals who are racial and ethnic minorities under-represented in the health professions for teaching, administration, or research positions at a health professions institution;

  • Provide such individuals with the skills necessary for tenured faculty positions. This may include training in pedagogy, program administration, design and conduct of research, grant writing, and the preparation of articles suitable for publication in peer reviewed journals;

  • Assist individuals in preparation for an academic career by providing services such as counseling; and

  • Provide health services to rural or medically underserved populations.

MFFP grantees include schools of medicine, nursing, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, allied health, podiatric medicine, optometry, veterinary medicine, public health and schools offering graduate programs in behavioral and mental health.
