Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education SUBJECT: Introductory Ethics Courses offered in Dallas, TX and San Francisco, CA The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct four introductory ethics training courses for ethics practitioners in Dallas, Texas on May 11-12 and San Francisco, California on May 24-25. Ethics officials are invited to attend any or all of the scheduled courses in the most convenient city. The introductory course schedule follows: Dallas, TX, May 11-12, 1999: Gifts from Outside Sources 05/11/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Gifts Between Employees 05/11/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Post Employment 05/12/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Misuse of Position 05/12/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. San Francisco, CA, May 24-25, 1999: Gifts from Outside Sources 05/24/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Gifts Between Employees 05/24/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Post Employment 05/25/99 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Misuse of Position 05/25/99 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. A brief description of each of the introductory courses follows. All of the courses will be offered free of charge. The Gifts From Outside Sources and Gifts Between Employees courses are designed to provide general overviews of Subparts B and C of the Standards of Conduct. The Post-Employment course covers the post-employment statute, 18 U.S.C. § 207, and includes student exercises and group discussion. The Misuse of Position course provides a broad overview of Subpart G and includes a four-step approach to determine whether proposed actions are prohibited by the misuse subpart. Advance registration is required for these training courses. Each person planning to attend MUST register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE not later than one week before course date. Registration will be handled on a first-come basis and each course is limited to 40 participants. NO TELEPHONE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Attached are appropriate registration forms.
