Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education SUBJECT: Introductory Ethics Courses in Washington, DC The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct four introductory ethics training courses March 23-24, 1999 in Washington, DC. Ethics officials are invited to attend any or all of the scheduled courses. The course titles, dates and times are listed below: March 23 Misuse of Position 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Post Employment 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. March 24 Public Financial Disclosure 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Gifts Between Employees 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. All courses will be held at the Department of Labor. See attached registration form for address and room number. The Misuse of Position course provides a broad overview of Subpart G and includes a four-step approach to determine whether proposed actions are prohibited by the misuse subpart. The Post-Employment course covers the post-employment statute, 18 U.S.C. § 207, and includes student exercises and group discussion. The Public Financial Disclosure Review course will focus on the skills and knowledge required to review and analyze the Executive Branch Public Financial Disclosure Report (SF 278) to ensure technical accuracy, identify potential conflicts of interest and determine appropriate remedial action. The Gifts Between Employees course is designed to provide a general overview of Subpart C of the Standards of Conduct. All courses are offered FREE to each agency. However, advance registration is required. Each person planning to attend MUST register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE before Thursday, March 18, 1999. Registration will be handled on a first- come basis and each course is limited to 40 participants.
