SUBJECT: Insert of Revised Provisions for the Easy-to-Read Standards Booklet

Attached please find an insert containing revised provisions for the Office of Government Ethics' (OGE) easy-to-read Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch Booklet (the "Standards Booklet"). The most recent edition of the Standards Booklet was published in 1995 and has a green cover.

The revisions reflect the recent changes to the Widely Attended Gatherings and Other Events exception to the gifts from outside sources rule, 5 C.F.R. § 2635.204(g), and the Hatch Act Reform Amendments which affect 5 C.F.R. §§ 2635.204(f), 2635.801(d)(7) and the note following § 2635.808(a)(2). See OGE's recent rulemakings published at 61 Federal Register 42965-42970 (August 20, 1996) (final rule) as corrected at 61 Federal Register 48733 (September 16, 1996), and 61 Federal Register 50689-50691 (September 27, 1996)(interim rule).

Please distribute copies of this insert to employees in your agency who have copies of the Standards Booklet. The revisions insert can accompany any edition of the Standards Booklet.
